The mixture was stirred at room temperature under nitrogen and the solids were gradually dissolved. The contents were stirred at room temperature for 24.0 h, and then slowly diluted into iced water and extracted with DCM (2 x 50 mL). The DCM phase was washed with ice cold water (2 x 100 mL). The DCM phase was dried over anhydrous Na2S04, filtered and concentrated under reduced pressure and chromatographed on silica gel using EtOAc and Hexanes (75:25) as eluents to get the desired amide 16 (129.1 mg, 25 % yield) as a white solid compound. -NMR (400 MHz, DMSO-de): 1H), 7.28-7.24 (m, 2H), 7.20-7.14 (m, 3H), 3.31-3.24 (m, 2H), 2.63-2.56 (m, 2H), 1.68- 1.54 (m, 4H) ppm. MH+ = 245.3 m/z.

Further evaporation of the resulting filtrate to a very small volume results in the separation of a solid which is collected, washed with acetonitrile and dried yielding 210 m.p. 125-135 C. (dec.).
