The three-dimensional character of carbon nitride can endow it with a larger specific surface area and more catalytic active sites, which are beneficial for charge and mass transfer to enhance photocatalytic hydrogen production reactions. Herein, we reported the direct assembly of three-dimensional structured carbon nitride from the thermal polymerization of 3-amino-1,2,4-triazole (AT) and melamine molecules. The 3D C3N4 consisted of one-dimensional thick tubes with numbers of thin tubes grown uniformly on their surfaces. It was noted that the assembly was decorated with triazole ring groups that generated a special nitrogen-rich structure, further broadening the visible-light response range. Furthermore, the nitrogen-rich carbon nitride had a large surface area of 71 m(2) g(-1), leading to a significant increase in the number of catalytic active sites. Thus, the photocatalytic hydrogen production rate reached 7.1 mmol g(-1) h(-1), 11.2 times higher than that of bulk C3N4. This work may provide a new strategy to controllably synthesize three-dimensional carbon nitride assemblies for photocatalytic applications.

In plants, light-dependent activation of de novo fatty acid synthesis (FAS) is partially mediated by acetyl-CoA carboxylase (ACCase), the first committed step for this pathway. However, it is not fully understood how plants control light-dependent FAS regulation to meet the cellular demand for acyl chains. We report here the identification of a gene family encoding for three small plastidial proteins of the envelope membrane that interact with the alpha-carboxyltransferase (alpha-CT) subunit of ACCase and participate in an original mechanism restraining FAS in the light. Light enhances the interaction between carboxyltransferase interactors (CTIs) and alpha-CT, which in turn attenuates carbon flux into FAS. Knockouts for CTI exhibit higher rates of FAS and marked increase in absolute triacylglycerol levels in leaves, more than 4-fold higher than in wild-type plants. Furthermore, WRINKLED1, a master transcriptional regulator of FAS, positively regulates CTI1 expression by direct binding to its promoter. This study reveals that in addition to light-dependent activation, envelope docking of ACCase permits fine-tuning of fatty acid supply during the plant life cycle.

In this paper, a chiral selector, N-(4-H-1, 2, 4-triazolium)-lactobionamides (LA-ATM), was synthesized and applied for enantioseparation in capillary electrophoresis (CE) for the first time. Compared with lactobionic acid (LA) separation system, enhanced enantioseparation of five tested drugs was achieved in this modification system. In order to achieve good chiral separation, several parameters such as chiral selector concentration, buffer pH, applied voltage as well as the type and proportion of organic modifier were systematically investigated. Molecular modeling was applied to demonstrate the chiral recognition mechanism of the LA-ATM, which well supported the experimental results. Furthermore, a mathematical equation built up based on the molecular mechanics calculations was used in predicting resolution of tested drugs using LA or LA-ATM mediated CE, the predicted result was well correlated with the experimental result. Under the catalysis of solid acidic ion exchange resin Amberlyst-15, using ethanol as solvent, aromatic aldehyde, beta-ketoester, and 3-amino-1,2,4-triazole or 2-aminobenzo as starting materials, a series of triazolo[1,5-a]pyrimidine derivatives 5a similar to 5m and dihydrobenzo[4,5]imidazo[1,2-a]pyrimidines 6a similar to 6g were synthesized by three-component one-pot reaction of imidazole derivatives. The method is simple and efficient, and has short reaction time, simple post-treatment and wide application range of the substrate. The catalyst can be recycled for 4 times without the significant decrease of catalytic activity. It conforms to the basic standard of green chemistry.

In this work, the coordination-based energy sacrificial bonds have been constructed in the interphase between lignin and polyolefin elastomer to prepare high performance lignin-based thermoplastic elastomers (TPEs). The strength and toughness of lignin-based TPEs can be adjusted by choosing different nitrogen heterocyclic compounds as reactive assistants and Fe3+ or Zr2+ as metal coordination centers. It was demonstrated that 3-Amino-1,2,4-triazole with three nitrogen atoms in the heterocydic ring and one nitrogen branch chain could form the most efficient coordination bond system and generate the best mechanical performance. The system with ferric iron as coordination center exhibited better enhancement effect than divalent zinc. By adjusting the nitrogen-containing reactive additives or metal salts as coordination centers, the mechanical performance of the lignin-based TPE can be regulated, which provides a method for making green bio-composites with good strength and toughness, and also promotes the high value utilization of lignin in polymer materials. Ultrathin C3N5 nanosheets with enhanced photocatalytic methylene blue (MB) degradation and H-2-evolution performance were prepared from thermal treatment of 3-amino-1,2,4-triazole (3-AT) and NH4Cl followed with a protonate procedure. The characterization results revealed that the protonating process could contribute to the exfoliation of C3N5 with large surface area, the effective charge transfer capability and the modified band structure. The as-prepared C3N5 nanosheets exhibited enhanced properties in photocatalytic reactions such as MB photodegradation and H-2-evolution from water splitting. This study offered a feasible route to prepare highly-efficient two-dimensional photocatalyst, which could be applied potentially for implementation in wide range of energy generation and environmental applications.

In this study, 2-urea-chitosan oligosaccharide derivatives (2-urea-COS derivatives) and 2,6-diurea-chitosan oligosaccharide derivatives (2,6-diurea-COS derivatives) were successfully designed and synthesized via intermediate 2-methoxyformylated chitosan oligosaccharide. All samples were characterized and compared based on FT-IR, H-1 NMR spectroscopy, and elemental analysis. The antifungal effects of COS derivatives were tested against Fusarium oxysporum f. sp. niveum, Phomopsis asparagus, and Botrytis cinereal. Their antioxidant properties, including superoxide radicals’ scavenging activity, hydroxyl radicals’ scavenging activity, and DPPH radicals’ scavenging activity were also explored within different concentrations. COS derivatives bearing urea groups showed improved bioactivity compared with pristine COS and 2,6-diurea-COS derivatives had a higher biological activity than 2-urea-COS derivatives in tested concentrations. Additionally, L929 cells were used to carry out cytotoxicity test of COS and COS derivatives by CCK-8 assay. The results indicated that some of samples showed low cytotoxicity. These findings offered a suggestion that COS derivatives bearing urea groups are promising biological materials.

In the title molecule, C13H16N4O3, the mean planes of the phenyl and triazole rings are nearly perpendicular to one another as a result of the intramolecular C-H center dot center dot center dot O and C-H center dot center dot center dot pi(ring) interactions. In the crystal, layers parallel to (101) are generated by O-H center dot center dot center dot N, N-H center dot center dot center dot O and N-H center dot center dot center dot N hydrogen bonds. The layers are connected by inversion-related pairs of C-H center dot center dot center dot O hydrogen bonds. The experimental molecular structure is close to the gas-phase geometryoptimized structure calculated by DFT methods. Hirshfeld surface analysis indicates that the most important interaction involving hydrogen in the title compound is the H center dot center dot center dot H contact. Herein, Fe3O4 nano-particles are anchored over nitrogen doped reduced graphene oxide Fe3O4@N-rGO) structure to accommodate electric and magnetic components, so that it could match both the conduction and polarization loss to augment the attenuation of electromagnetic radiation. The formation of condensed heteroaromatic structure and decoration of Fe3O4 particles on r-GO structure are confirmed by photoelectron spectroscopy (XPS). high-resolution transmission electron microscopy (HRTEM), X-ray diffraction (XRD). The Fe3O4@N-rGO hybrid is subsequently dispersed in epoxy matrix, which result in significantly higher electrical conductivity (1.31 s/m) and electromagnetic interference (EMI) shielding efficiency (- 26 dB at 1 mm thickness). It was assumed that presence of electric-magnetic integrated Fe3O4@N-rGO hybrid in epoxy matrix significantly improved the interfacial polarization and anisotropy energy, which was reflected in absorption loss value of -27 dB. The composites also exhibited enhanced mechanical and thermo-mechanical properties coupled with improved thermal stability.
