In order to design a new energetic material with desirable performance, it is necessary to know its detonation performance. This study, exhibits a linear relationship between detonation velocity of energetic cocrystals and their molecular structure through quantitative structure property relationship (QSPR) method. The methodology of this research affords a new model which can relate the detonation velocity of energetic cocrystals to their several molecular structural descriptors. Moreover, this method supposes that the detonation velocity of energetic cocrystals is a function of n(N), Mw, n(C)/n(H), and n(O)/n(H). The new correlation is acquired on the basis of calculated data of detonation velocities of 40 cocrystals through reliable methods as training set. The R-2 or determination coefficient of the obtained correlation is 0.952. The new correlatoion provides an appropriate estimation for further 12 energetic cocrystals as test set. Meanwhile, the root mean square and average absolute deviation of a newly introduced correlation were found to be 0.398 and 0.308 km center dot s(-1), respectively. As a matter of fact, it is conceivable to design novel energetic cocrystals by the utility of the proposed correlation.

In search of unprecedented tri and/or tetrapod pharmacophoric conjugates, a series of 32 new 4-ethyl-1H-benzo[b][1,4]diazepin-2(3H)-ones were synthesized and properly elucidated using MS, IR, NMR, and elemental analysis. In vitro investigation of 11 compounds of this series, using a panel of two human tumor cell lines namely; human breast adenocarcinoma (MCF-7), and human colorectal carcinoma (HCT-116), revealed promising cytotoxic activities. Among all synthesized compounds, analogue 9 displayed maximum cytotoxicity with IC50 values of 16.19 +/- 1.35 and 17.16 +/- 1.54 mu M against HCT-116 and MCF-7, respectively, compared to standard drug doxorubicin.

Supported 3-(3-sulfamic acid imidazolium trifluoroacetate)propyl triethoxysilane on magnetic nanoparticles as a novel nanocatalyst was synthesized and characterized by FT-IR, XRD, TGA, SEM, TEM and VSM techniques. Three-component reaction of 3-amino-1H-1,2,4-triazole or 5-amino-2H-1,2,3-triazole derivatives, acetaldehyde, and 1,3-dicarbonyl compounds (acetylacetone or -keto esters) in water under microwave irradiation leads to regioselective formation of 4,7-dihydro[1,2,4]-triazolo- and 4,7-dihydro[1,2,3]triazolo[1,5-a]pyrimidines. Using ethyl 4,4,4-trifluoro-3-oxobutanoate as 1,3-dicarbonyl compound under the same conditions allows to obtain the corresponding 5-hydroxy-4,5,6,7-tetrahydro derivatives, which fail to dehydrate in the reaction medium.

In this study, 2-urea-chitosan oligosaccharide derivatives (2-urea-COS derivatives) and 2,6-diurea-chitosan oligosaccharide derivatives (2,6-diurea-COS derivatives) were successfully designed and synthesized via intermediate 2-methoxyformylated chitosan oligosaccharide. All samples were characterized and compared based on FT-IR, H-1 NMR spectroscopy, and elemental analysis. The antifungal effects of COS derivatives were tested against Fusarium oxysporum f. sp. niveum, Phomopsis asparagus, and Botrytis cinereal. Their antioxidant properties, including superoxide radicals’ scavenging activity, hydroxyl radicals’ scavenging activity, and DPPH radicals’ scavenging activity were also explored within different concentrations. COS derivatives bearing urea groups showed improved bioactivity compared with pristine COS and 2,6-diurea-COS derivatives had a higher biological activity than 2-urea-COS derivatives in tested concentrations. Additionally, L929 cells were used to carry out cytotoxicity test of COS and COS derivatives by CCK-8 assay. The results indicated that some of samples showed low cytotoxicity. These findings offered a suggestion that COS derivatives bearing urea groups are promising biological materials.

Dormancy is one of the least understood phenomena in plant biology; however, bud/corm dormancy is an important economic trait in agricultural/horticultural breeding. In this study, we isolated an ABA biosynthesis gene, GhNCED, from the transcriptome database of corm dormancy release (CDR), and characterized its negative role in regulating CDR. To understand transcriptional regulation of GhNCED, yeast one-hybrid screening was conducted and GhTCP19 was identified and shown to regulate GhNCED expression directly. An in planta assay showed that GhTCP19 negatively regulates GhNCED expression. GhTCP19 is dramatically induced by exogenous cytokinins (CKs) and is induced during CDR. Silencing of GhTCP19 in dormant cormels delayed CDR, resulting in higher expression of GhNCED and ABA levels. Meanwhile, endogenous CK biosynthesis and signaling were inhibited in GhTCP19-silenced cormels. Taken together, our results reveal that GhTCP19 is a positive regulator of the CDR process by repressing expression of an ABA biosynthesis gene (GhNCED), promoting CK biosynthesis (GhIPT) and signal transduction (GhARR) as well as inducing cyclin genes. This study expands our knowledge on CDR which is mediated by TCP family members.

A new series of indole containing biaryl derivatives were designed and synthesized, and further biological evaluations of their antiproliferative activity against cancer cell lines (MGC-803 and TE-1 cells) were also conducted. In addition, investigation of mechanism exhibited that the compound 4-methyl-2-((5-methyl-[1,2,4]triazolo[1,5-a]pyrimidin-7-yl)methyl)quinazoline (23) could inhibit the expression of c-Myc and glycolysis related proteins, decrease the ATP and lactate production, and further induce apoptosis by activating the AMP-activated protein kinase (AMPK) and p53 signaling pathways.

Heteroatom-doped ordered mesoporous carbons (OMCs) have currently been considered as promising electrode materials for electrochemical sensors due to the combined advantages of ordered mesoporous materials and heteroatom-doped carbon materials. Herein, a novel nitrogen and sulfur co-doped OMCs (N,S-OMC) has been prepared via a nanocasting strategy with an inexpensive methylene blue as single precursor. The obtained mesoporous carbon has platelet morphology, short mesoporous channel together with a large surface area (549 m(2)/g) as well as rich N- and S-containing functional groups (6.8 at.% N and 2.3 at.% S). Compared with the graphene (GR) and carbon nanotube (CNT) electrode material, the N,S-OMC exhibited a higher electrochemical activity towards the oxidation of herbicide amitrole, ascribable to N,S-OMC’s open mesoporous structures and abundant electroactive defect sites on the carbon skeleton. And, an amitrole electrochemical sensor with N,S-OMC modified electrode as working electrode was fabricated, exhibiting a good selectivity, stability, reproducibility and wide linear range of 3-750 mu M. Moreover, the N,S-OMC-based electrochemical sensor was proved feasible in river water sample analyses, showing a satisfied recovery ranging from 97.03% to 105.42%. The results not only demonstrate cheap methylene blue can be used as single precursor for the N,S-OMC preparation, but also confirm the N,S-OMC is promising in amitrole sensor fabrication.
