In this work, (Z)-N-benzoyl-N ‘-(1H-1,2,4-triazol-3-yl)carbamimidothioic acid and its Mn(II), Co(II), Cu(II) and Cd(II) complexes were introduced for the first time. This carbonyl thiourea ligand was prepared by the reaction of 1H-1,2,4-triazol-3-amine with benzoyl isothiocyanate. The structural elucidation of these compounds was performed using elemental analysis and spectral and magnetic measurements. Octahedral structures of all complexes, except Cd(II) complex with a tetrahedral geometry, were confirmed by applying DFT structural optimization. The thermal decomposition behaviour of metal complexes of carbonyl thiourea ligand is discussed. The calculation of kinetic parameters for prepared complexes (E-a, A, Delta H*, Delta S* and Delta G*) of all thermal degradation stages has been evaluated using two comparable approaches. Antimicrobial and ABTS-antioxidant studies indicated potent activity of Cd(II) complex compared with the other investigated compounds. The cytotoxic activity of the prepared compounds was investigated in vitro. The results indicated potent activity of Mn(II) complex against both HePG2 (liver carcinoma) and MCF-7 (breast carcinoma) cancer cells.

The chemical behavior of 4,9-dimethoxy-5-oxo-5H-furo[3,2-g]-chromene-6-carbonitrile (khellin-6-carbonitrile) (1) was examined towards a variety of nitrogen nucleophiles. Some novel Schiff bases 5-7 were prepared from reaction of carbonitrile 1 with some heterocyclic amines. Treatment of carbonitrile 1 with some hydrazine derivatives in boiling ethanol afforded pyrazole derivatives 8-13. Khellin-6-carbonitrile (1) reacted with hydrazine hydrate and phenylhydrazine in acetic acid to afford angular heteroannulated furo[3′,2′:6,7]-chromeno [4,3-c]pyrazol-4(1H)-one derivatives 14 and 15. Triazolo[1,5-a]pyrimidine 16 and pyrimido[1,2-a]benzimidazole 17 were synthesized through ring opening and recyclization reactions of compound 1 with 3-amino-1,2,4-triazole and 2-aminobenzimidazole, respectively. Reaction of compound 1 with guanidine and cyanoguanidine in ethanolic potassium hydroxide solution resulted in ring conversion giving the novel angular furo [3 ‘,2’ :6,7] chromeno [4,3-d]pyrimidin-5-ones 18 and 19. The antimicrobial activity of the prepared compounds appeared distinguish activity against the selected microorganisms.

In order to design a new energetic material with desirable performance, it is necessary to know its detonation performance. This study, exhibits a linear relationship between detonation velocity of energetic cocrystals and their molecular structure through quantitative structure property relationship (QSPR) method. The methodology of this research affords a new model which can relate the detonation velocity of energetic cocrystals to their several molecular structural descriptors. Moreover, this method supposes that the detonation velocity of energetic cocrystals is a function of n(N), Mw, n(C)/n(H), and n(O)/n(H). The new correlation is acquired on the basis of calculated data of detonation velocities of 40 cocrystals through reliable methods as training set. The R-2 or determination coefficient of the obtained correlation is 0.952. The new correlatoion provides an appropriate estimation for further 12 energetic cocrystals as test set. Meanwhile, the root mean square and average absolute deviation of a newly introduced correlation were found to be 0.398 and 0.308 km center dot s(-1), respectively. As a matter of fact, it is conceivable to design novel energetic cocrystals by the utility of the proposed correlation.

Type 1 diabetes (T1D) results in decreased oocyte quality and compromised early embryonic development. Procyanidin B2 (PB2) is a natural compound extracted from grape seeds and has strong antioxidant activity in vivo. This study evaluated the effect of PB2 on oocyte maturation in diabetic mice. Diabetic mice were induced by streptozotocin (STZ) injection. PB2 was supplemented in the in vitro maturation medium, and the ratio of germinal vesicle breakdown (GVBD) and polar body extrusion (PBE), reactive oxygen species (ROS) levels, mitochondrial function, developmental ability, as well as crotonylation at H4K5 were determined in oocytes. PB2 can promote the extrusion of PBE (88.34% vs. 75.02%,P < 0.05); reduce the generation of ROS (1.12 vs. 1.96,P < 0.05); and improve the level of mitochondrial membrane potential (0.87 vs. 0.79 Delta phi m,P < 0.05), ATP level (1.31 vs. 0.71 pmol,P < 0.05), and mitochondria temperature (618.25 vs. 697.39 pixels,P < 0.05). The addition of PB2 also improved the level of oocyte crotonylation at H4K5 (crH4K5) (47.26 vs. 59.68 pixels,P < 0.05) and increased the blastocyst rate (61.51% vs. 36.07%,P < 0.05) after parthenogenetic activation. Our results are the first to reveal a role for PB2 in promoting the viability of oocytes by regulating the mitochondrial function. Due to the disadvantages of lower tensile strength and fracture toughness, the widely application of Ethylene-propylene-diene-monomer rubber (EPDM) has been limited. In this study, a thermally reversible healing EPDM based elastomer with H-bonding and Zn-based-bonding dynamic cross-link network was prepared. The influence of mole ratio of ATA/MAH on tensile strength and fracture energy of mEPDM(0)-xATA was investigated. The results showed that increasing the content of ATA brings about a gradual improvement in tensile strength of the mEPDM(0)-xATA. Especially when the mole ratio of ATA/MAH is 1, the fracture energy of mEPDM(0)-ATA is dramatically enhanced to 33.9 MJ/m(3), which is best among the ratios studied in our research. After curing, the effect of ZnCl(2)content on tensile strength and fracture energy of mEPDM-ATA-nZn was also studied. Meanwhile, the uniaxial cyclic loading-unloading tensile test was used to study the viscous damping properties of mEPDM-ATA-0.4Zn, which showed reversible repair properties after heat treatment. The results of dynamic rheological measurement showed that the damping properties were improved.

A P/N-containing flame retardant (PPT) constructed by phosphaphenanthrene, phosphonate, and triazole groups was successfully synthesized and used as a reactive co-curing agent for epoxy resin (EP). The curing behavior, thermal property, combustion behavior, and flame retardant mechanism of EP thermosets were comprehensively investigated. According to the analysis of DSC and TGA, PPT accelerated the crosslinking reaction and enhanced the charring ability for EP thermosets at high temperature. The results of combustion test indicated that PPT endowed epoxy thermoset with outstanding flame retardancy. When the phosphorus content was 0.71 wt%, EP/DDS/PPT-2 achieved a LOI value of 33.2% and passed V-0 rating in UL-94 test, and its peak heat release rate and total heat release were decreased by 63.7 and 30.5%, respectively, relative to EP/DDS. Moreover, the FIGRA of EP/DDS/PPT-2 was reduced from 9.7 to 3.5 kW m(-2) s(-1), manifesting the significantly improved fire safety of EP thermoset. The flame retardant mechanism was summarized as two parts: (a) the barrier effect of continuous phosphorus-rich char layers in condensed phase, (b) the quenching effect of phosphorous radicals and diluting effect of nonflammable gases in gaseous phase.

Eight energetic salts with a gem-dinitro group based on 1,2,4-oxadiazole were developed. All of the structures were confirmed by infrared (IR) spectroscopy, H-1 and C-13 nuclear magnetic resonance (NMR) spectroscopy, and high-resolution mass spectrometry (HRMS), and single-crystal X-ray diffraction was used to determine the structures of the pivotal intermediate 3-(chlorodinitromethyl)-5-methyl-1,2,4-oxadiazole (3), the potassium salt (4) and the hydrazinium salt (7). All of them are insensitive to impact (>40 J) and have higher energy levels than trinitrotoluene (TNT).

Herein, an effectual, quick and novel method is described for the synthesis of new triazolo[1,5-a]pyrimidine, triazolo[5,1-b][1,3] thiazine and pyrazolo[1,5-a]pyrimidine derivatives. This series of fused six-member rings to triazole and pyrazole was prepared via the catalyst-free reaction of dialkyl acetylenedicarboxylates and 3-substituted 1H-1,2,4-triazole or 3-amino-1H-pyrazole-4-carbonitrile. The structures of the prepared products were deduced from their Fourier-transform infrared, elemental analysis and proton and carbon-13 nuclear magnetic resonance spectral data. Metal-organic framework compounds with abundant network structures are widely used in gas separation and storage, non-linear optics, catalysis, functional materials, and other applications. Here, self-doped nitrogen porous carbon was prepared by a one-step carbonization of Zn-2(ATRZ)(2)SO4 center dot 3H(2)O synthesized using a hydrothermal method. The self-doped nitrogen porous carbon material (ZYC-800) features a three-dimensional network structure, high specific surface area of 725 m(2) g(-1), and high nitrogen (7.26%) and oxygen (5.46%) contents. Consequently, the ZYC-800 electrode shows a high specific capacitance of 205.5 F g(-1)at a current density of 1.0 A g(-1)and high capacitance retention rate of 71.1% after 5000 cycles. Moreover, a composite electrode material (ZYC-800-5.3) with small redox additives was prepared and showed a high specific capacitance of 274.1 F g(-1)at a current density of 1.0 A g(-1). After 5000 cycles, the capacitance retention rate is 72.8%. The results show that the addition of redox additives in self-doped nitrogen porous carbon is an effective method in the development of high performance supercapacitors.
