Using a set of physicochemical (ellipsometry and contact angle measurements), electrochemical (potentiometric anode polarization and electrochemical impedance spectroscopy), and corrosion (periodic moisture condensation test) methods, the properties of adsorption films formed on the AMg6 aluminum alloy surface by the chamber method in vapors of some amines of heterocyclic compounds, carboxylic acids, and their salts are studied. It is established that the use of the studied compounds in the chamber processing of the alloy increases-though not effectively enough-its corrosion resistance in a humid atmosphere. The most promising inhibitors are carboxylic acids themselves; the optimum temperature for surface treatment with them is 140 degrees C. One-hour treatment of steel with pairs of oleic, neodecanoic acid, and carboxylic acid A at this temperature gives rise to the formation of nanoscale adsorption films on the AMg6 alloy, which slightly hydrophilize the surface, but possess a protective aftereffect. Apparently, further improvement of chamber protection methods of the AMg6 alloy should consist in the selection of synergists for chamber corrosion inhibitors of the carboxylate type.

In search of unprecedented tri and/or tetrapod pharmacophoric conjugates, a series of 32 new 4-ethyl-1H-benzo[b][1,4]diazepin-2(3H)-ones were synthesized and properly elucidated using MS, IR, NMR, and elemental analysis. In vitro investigation of 11 compounds of this series, using a panel of two human tumor cell lines namely; human breast adenocarcinoma (MCF-7), and human colorectal carcinoma (HCT-116), revealed promising cytotoxic activities. Among all synthesized compounds, analogue 9 displayed maximum cytotoxicity with IC50 values of 16.19 +/- 1.35 and 17.16 +/- 1.54 mu M against HCT-116 and MCF-7, respectively, compared to standard drug doxorubicin.

The utility of the enaminonitriles 3a and 3b for the synthesis of the pyrazole derivatives 5a,b, 7a,b, diaminopyrimidine derivatives 9,11, pyrazolo[1,5-alpha]pyrimidines 12,15, triazolo[4,3-alpha]pyrimidines 13,16, imidazo[1,2-alpha]pyrimidine derivatives 14 and 17, was explored. Most of the synthesized compounds showed excellent in vitro antitumor activity against MCF-7 cell line. They also exhibted high antimicrobial and antioxidant activities. Density functional theory (DFT) calculations at the B3LYP/6-31G level of theory have been carried out to investigate the equilibrium geometry of the novel phenylpyrazolo[1,5-alpha]pyrimidin-6-yl)methanone derivative 12 and phenylpyrazolo[1,5-alpha]pyrimidine derivative 15. The structure-activity relationship (SAR) has been used to correlate the biological activity with the appropriate quantum such as total energy. A series of new benzo[d][1,2,3]triazol-1-yl-pyrazole-based dihydro-[1,2,4]triazolo[4,3-a]pyrimidine derivatives 4a-p were synthesized and well characterized by using IR, H-1,C-13 NMR and mass spectral data. Finally, the structure of the compound 4l was solved unambiguously by single-crystal X-ray diffraction (SXRD) which confirms all the structures 4a-p. The in vitro alpha-glucosidase inhibition, anticancer (A549 and MCF-7 cell lines) and antioxidant studies of the title compounds 4a-pwere screened. Among all the compounds, 4g, 4h and 4n exhibited significant alpha-glucosidase inhibition activity with the IC(50)values 20.12 +/- 0.19 mu M, 21.55 +/- 0.46 mu M and 24.92 +/- 0.98 mu M. Similarly, the compounds 4h, 4d and 4e showed potent anticancer activity against A549 (human lung carcinoma) cell line with IC(50)values 3.64 mu M, 4.73 mu M and 4.56 mu M, respectively, whereas the compounds 4c and 4 o displayed potent anticancer activity against human breast cancer (MCF-7) cell line with IC50 values of 2.66 mu M and 2.11 mu M. In addition, the antioxidant activity revealed that the compounds 4e and 4h exhibited potent antioxidant activity (IC50: 4.25 mu M and 5.40 mu M). To determine the safety profile of the most active compounds4c,4d,4e,4g,4h,4n and 4o were tested against non-cancer HEK293 cell line (human embryonic kidney 293), results in the lower toxicity of these compounds. Insulin resistance is thought to be a common link between obesity and Non-Alcoholic Fatty Liver Disease (NAFLD). NAFLD has now reached epidemic status worldwide and identification of molecules or pathways as newer therapeutic strategies either to prevent or overcome insulin resistance seems critical. Dysregulated hepatic lipogenesis (DNL) is a hallmark of NAFLD in humans and rodents. Therefore, reducing DNL accretion may be critical in the development of therapeutics of NAFLD. In our in vivo model (high-fat-diet fed [HFD] obese mice) we found Zinc oxide nanoparticles (ZnO NPs) significantly decreased HFD-induced hepatic steatosis and peripheral insulin resistance. This protective mechanism of ZnO NPs was signaled through hepatic SIRT1-LKB1-AMPK which restricted SREBP-lc within the cytosol limiting its transcriptional ability and thereby ameliorating HFD mediated DNL. These observations indicate that ZnO NP can serve as a therapeutic strategy to improve the physiological homeostasis during obesity and its associated metabolic abnormalities. (C) 2019 Elsevier Inc. Using a set of physicochemical (ellipsometry and contact angle measurements), electrochemical (electrochemical impedance spectroscopy and polarization measurements), and corrosion (periodic moisture condensation and salt fog tests) methods, the properties of adsorption films formed on copper by the chamber method from vapors of benzotriazol (BTA), 1H-1,2,4-triazole, tolyltriazole (TTA), 5-chloro-1,2,3-benzotriazole (CBTA), 3-amino-1H-1,2,4-triazole, and 4-amino-1H-1,2,4-triazole at a temperature of 100 degrees C are studied. It is shown that 1-h chamber treatment of copper with vapors of these compounds leads to the formation of nanoscale hydrophobic adsorption films on it, which inhibits the thermal growth of oxides, but stabilizes the passive state of the metal and increases its corrosion resistance. Among these different triazole compounds tested as chamber corrosion inhibitors, BTA and its substituted derivatives are distinguished. After a 1-h chamber treatment of copper, the protective aftereffect of the adsorption films of triazole derivatives grows symbatically with their saturated vapor pressure at the chamber treatment temperature, i.e., in the following increasing order: CBTA < TTA < BTA. This may indicate that the equilibrium adsorption films do not have time to form at 100 degrees C on the metal within this time period. After a prolonged (24 h or more) chamber treatment of copper with vapors of substituted benzotriazoles, equilibrium adsorption films of inhibitors are formed on it. In this case, the influence of the chamber inhibitor properties on their protective aftereffect alternates. Under such conditions, the least volatile and most hydrophobic substituted benzotriazole, i.e., CBTA, provide the best metal protection. We report the photocatalytic property of a novel AgCl loaded carbon nitride (AgCl/g-C3N5) composite was prepared by a simple precipitation route. The brown colored g-C3N5 was synthesized by a nano-hard templating method using 3-amino-1,2,4-triazole precursor. The morphology, crystallinity and optical properties of the AgCl/g-C3N5 composite were characterized using the X-ray diffraction analysis (XRD), transmission electron microscopy (TEM), and diffuse reflectance spectroscopy (UV-DRS) spectroscopy. The rhodamine B (RhB) removal efficiency was reached 96% within 30 min, which could be attributed to the effective formation of a heterojunction and excellent visible light absorption of AgCl by g-C3N5 incorporation.

Salt stress is an important environmental factor affecting the growth and production of agricultural crops and fruits worldwide, including apple (Males x domestica). In this study, we demonstrate that a salt-responsive MYB transcription factor (TF), designated as MdMYB63, promotes survival under salt stress. Overexpression of MdMYB63 in apple calli significantly enhanced salt tolerance. Screening of the AP2/ERF family of TFs identified MdERF106 as an interaction partner of MdMYB63.
