Three-component reaction of 3-amino-1H-1,2,4-triazole or 5-amino-2H-1,2,3-triazole derivatives, acetaldehyde, and 1,3-dicarbonyl compounds (acetylacetone or -keto esters) in water under microwave irradiation leads to regioselective formation of 4,7-dihydro[1,2,4]-triazolo- and 4,7-dihydro[1,2,3]triazolo[1,5-a]pyrimidines. Using ethyl 4,4,4-trifluoro-3-oxobutanoate as 1,3-dicarbonyl compound under the same conditions allows to obtain the corresponding 5-hydroxy-4,5,6,7-tetrahydro derivatives, which fail to dehydrate in the reaction medium.

Supported 3-(3-sulfamic acid imidazolium trifluoroacetate)propyl triethoxysilane on magnetic nanoparticles as a novel nanocatalyst was synthesized and characterized by FT-IR, XRD, TGA, SEM, TEM and VSM techniques. The catalytic activity of the magnetic catalyst was studied through one-pot synthesis of triazole quinazolinones and fused pyrimidine derivatives via one-pot multi-component reactions under thermal conditions. This catalyst demonstrated excellent catalytic properties with high percentage in short reaction times, low cost and easily separated using an external magnet and reusable without significant loss of its catalytic efficiency. In search of unprecedented tri and/or tetrapod pharmacophoric conjugates, a series of 32 new 4-ethyl-1H-benzo[b][1,4]diazepin-2(3H)-ones were synthesized and properly elucidated using MS, IR, NMR, and elemental analysis. In vitro investigation of 11 compounds of this series, using a panel of two human tumor cell lines namely; human breast adenocarcinoma (MCF-7), and human colorectal carcinoma (HCT-116), revealed promising cytotoxic activities. Among all synthesized compounds, analogue 9 displayed maximum cytotoxicity with IC50 values of 16.19 +/- 1.35 and 17.16 +/- 1.54 mu M against HCT-116 and MCF-7, respectively, compared to standard drug doxorubicin.

In order to design a new energetic material with desirable performance, it is necessary to know its detonation performance. This study, exhibits a linear relationship between detonation velocity of energetic cocrystals and their molecular structure through quantitative structure property relationship (QSPR) method. The methodology of this research affords a new model which can relate the detonation velocity of energetic cocrystals to their several molecular structural descriptors. Moreover, this method supposes that the detonation velocity of energetic cocrystals is a function of n(N), Mw, n(C)/n(H), and n(O)/n(H). The new correlation is acquired on the basis of calculated data of detonation velocities of 40 cocrystals through reliable methods as training set. The R-2 or determination coefficient of the obtained correlation is 0.952. The new correlatoion provides an appropriate estimation for further 12 energetic cocrystals as test set. Meanwhile, the root mean square and average absolute deviation of a newly introduced correlation were found to be 0.398 and 0.308 km center dot s(-1), respectively. As a matter of fact, it is conceivable to design novel energetic cocrystals by the utility of the proposed correlation.

Three-dimensional graphite carbon nitride (3D-CN) has received tremendous research interest due to its unique structural features, fascinating physicochemical properties, widespread potential applications. Most syntheses of 3D-CN mainly focus on developing g-C3N4 (2.7 eV) using and hard-templating strategies. Nevertheless, the excellent photo catalytic activity of 3D-CN is related to its small band gap, which is relevant to its structure and the nitrogen (N) content. Meanwhile, it is still a challenge to prepare N-rich CN with special structure and a small band gap using a simple and green strategy. Herein, a novel, mesoporous rod-like and N-rich graphite carbon nitride (RN-g-C3N5) is fabricated by a facile and green KBr-guided approach using 3-amino-1,2,4-triazole. The KBr acting as a guider can be easily removed by water. Surprisingly, the mesoporous rod-like structure makes for the usage of visible light and the enhancement of surface area of RN-g-C3N5. More importantly, the special structure and high N content result in a narrow band gap (1.90 eV). Therefore, RN-g-C3N5 displays notably superior photocatalytic performance. Meanwhile, the RN-g-C3N5 with excellent photocatalytic performance has great prospects in environmental remediation.

Four C2H4N4 structural isomers are investigated with fs laser-induced breakdown spectroscopy. Plasma emissions, C I, H-alpha, the CN violet system (B-2 sigma(+)-X-2 sigma(+), Delta nu = 0 sequence) and C-2 swan system (d(3)pi(g)-a(3)pi(u), Delta nu = 0 sequence) are measured. The temporal evolution of the characteristic emission intensity is obtained for each emission and their lifetimes are calculated. The lifetimes of the molecular emissions are much longer than those of the atomic emissions. Characteristic emission intensities and lifetime are correlated with the molecular structures of the four isomers to a certain extent. Plasma temperature is extracted by fitting the spectrum of the CN violet system, B-2 sigma(+)-X-2 sigma(+); Delta nu = 0 sequence, and is weakly correlated with the molecular structures of the four isomers. Using the characteristic emission intensities as input, principal component analysis (PCA) and artificial neural network (ANN) analysis are performed and the individual isomers can be well identified with PCA or ANN.

Using a set of physicochemical (ellipsometry and contact angle measurements), electrochemical (potentiometric anode polarization and electrochemical impedance spectroscopy), and corrosion (periodic moisture condensation test) methods, the properties of adsorption films formed on the AMg6 aluminum alloy surface by the chamber method in vapors of some amines of heterocyclic compounds, carboxylic acids, and their salts are studied. It is established that the use of the studied compounds in the chamber processing of the alloy increases-though not effectively enough-its corrosion resistance in a humid atmosphere. The most promising inhibitors are carboxylic acids themselves; the optimum temperature for surface treatment with them is 140 degrees C. One-hour treatment of steel with pairs of oleic, neodecanoic acid, and carboxylic acid A at this temperature gives rise to the formation of nanoscale adsorption films on the AMg6 alloy, which slightly hydrophilize the surface, but possess a protective aftereffect. Apparently, further improvement of chamber protection methods of the AMg6 alloy should consist in the selection of synergists for chamber corrosion inhibitors of the carboxylate type.

We report the photocatalytic property of a novel AgCl loaded carbon nitride (AgCl/g-C3N5) composite was prepared by a simple precipitation route. The brown colored g-C3N5 was synthesized by a nano-hard templating method using 3-amino-1,2,4-triazole precursor. The morphology, crystallinity and optical properties of the AgCl/g-C3N5 composite were characterized using the X-ray diffraction analysis (XRD), transmission electron microscopy (TEM), and diffuse reflectance spectroscopy (UV-DRS) spectroscopy. The rhodamine B (RhB) removal efficiency was reached 96% within 30 min, which could be attributed to the effective formation of a heterojunction and excellent visible light absorption of AgCl by g-C3N5 incorporation.

The construction materials that contacted with unsymmetrical dimethylhydrazine and the desorption solutions obtained when treating the contaminated surface of metals and alloys with water and reagents were studied by chromatography and mass spectrometry. Neutralization of unsymmetrical dimethylhydrazine was studied using ozone and shungite. Ozonation makes it possible to destroy the toxicant molecules chemically and physically adsorbed on the surface of metal constructions, due to which they can be reused and utilized. Shungite effectively adsorbs and catalytically decomposes not only unsymmetrical dimethylhydrazine and its transformation products, but also oligomer compounds formed during the storage of hydrazine fuel. Ozonation of spent shungite can increase the efficiency of destructive processes and completeness of its regeneration.

A Schiff base ligand HL has been synthesized by the condensation of an equimolar amount of 2-hydroxy-4-methoxybenzaldehyde and 3-amino-1,2,4-triazole and characterized by elemental analysis, IR, H-1 NMR, C-13 NMR and ESI-mass spectrometry. The metal complexes 1-4 have been synthesized by the reaction of ligand with Co(II), Ni(II), Cu(II) and Zn(II) chlorides in ethanol in the molar ratio 1:1. All the metal complexes 1-4 were characterized by elemental analysis, molar conductance, electronic spectra, IR, and EPR spectra. TGA has been done to check the stability of the synthesized Schiff base ligand HL and its metal complexes 1-4. Spectral data reveals that the ligand HL acts as uninegative tridentate for metal complexes. The geometries of synthesized ligand and its metal complexes were optimized by using Gaussian 09 W program. On the basis of spectral characterization, octahedral geometry has been allocated for Co(II), tetrahedral for Ni(II), tetragonal for Cu(II) and tetrahedral for Zn(II) complexes. The DNA binding studies of metal complex have been investigated by UV absorbance, fluorescence and CD spectrometry. UV absorbance binding studies show that metal complex 1-3 could bind to ctDNA significantly and the results obtained were consistent with the fluorescence and CD spectra. (C) 2018 Elsevier B.V.
