General procedure: A solution of aminotriazole 11a-m (3.1mmol), glacial acetic acid (5mL), and diethyl ethoxymethylenemalonate (4.6mmol) was refluxed for 3h. After cooling to room temperature, the resulting precipitate was collected by filtration, washed with cold water and dried. The residue was stirred with cold ethyl ether (20mL) and filtered to afford the desired product.
